Bristol can boast a thousand years of history, from humble beginnings
as a Saxon settlement to one of the richest trading cities in England.
The Bristol Heritage Walk is an original concept devised by the Bristol
Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Bristol Tourist Information Centre.
It
is a walk laid out in the form of numbered plaques embedded in the
pavement along a route of 4.5km through the city centre, designed to
show Bristol at its best.
It takes two to three hours to complete the walk, and includes many pleasant places and cafes to sit en route.
The booklet includes an easy to follow map, with public toilets marked.
